YWGS Statement on Coronavirus

The outbreak of the COVID-19 disease caused by the coronavirus has already had significant impact on daily life.  We like games and want to continue providing the opportunity to share our pastime, but the health and wellbeing of members and the community is of overriding importance.  Playing tabletop games involves being in close proximity to others so there is a risk of transmitting the virus.

The club’s Committee will be guided by the advice from UK Government, the NHS and Public Health England.  At the time of writing, 16th March 2020, the governmental response is summarised on this website page.

As club members we ask you to follow the public guidelines for the wellbeing of yourself, other club members and the community in general.

If you are symptomatic the guidance is to isolate yourself at home for seven days.  We also ask that you let the club know of your decision in order that other club members can be informed, especially if they have recently met or played a game with you.

If you are not symptomatic, you should regularly and thoroughly wash your hands for at least 20 seconds on each occasion.  Do not bring food to share at YWGS events.

We are conscious that Neal Guppy is considered vulnerable to suffering severe effects should he contract this virus.  Governmental guidance on e.g. self-isolation for vulnerable individuals may change.  If guidance advises against meeting at Guppy’s Enterprise Club, the Committee has contingency plans and will advise of any alternate arrangements.

Thank you for your understanding and compliance.
